I haven’t had a chance to watch this week’s episode yet, but should to tomorrow. One of my favourite parts of the show is The Pitch, where an ad agency get to make an ad for something fake. No-one yet has managed to top the very first one in Season 1 Ep 1.

Enjoy.

In what can only be considered a HUGE embarassment to Coles, Masterchef contestants have bought pastry past its used by date. Isolated incident? Bullshit. Here’s my story.

March 1994, I go down to Coles at Chatswood Chase to buy something to cook for dinner. I choose fresh pasta with meat in it and a tub of pasta sauce. I drive the 5 mintues back to my house and cook it straight away. Mine was actually within its used by date, but was obviously not kept refrigerated properly (no doubt stacked too high and out of the cool zone).

Next morning, around noon, violent vomiting, quite literally emptied my entire stomach and couldn’t keep anything down for at least 6 hours afterwards, not even water. In hindsight, being home alone while this was happening was extremely dangerous and I should have called the ambulance and been taken to hospital.

The chain reaction here is that this was an event that started a severe case of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and completely destroyed my digestive system and caused massive issues in other areas that I will live with for the rest of my days on this planet.

It’s 16 years later and I am still not 100% and the reason I am self employed is that some days I just can’t get through the day without a sleep.

I check EVERY piece of food I buy. I float all my egss. I smell EVERYTHING. I always pick up refrigerated goods from the BACK of the open fridges.

To the minimum wage shelf packer who can’t be bothered doing their job properly, leaving bad food on shelves, to those who don’t stack the fridges properly and to the crappy managers who don’t train or supervise their staff properly, I leave you with this message.

DO YOUR FUCKING JOB. YOU’RE SCREWING WITH PEOPLE’S LIVES HERE. IF YOU CAN’T, GO AND DO SOMETHING ELSE FOR A DOLLAR.

There was a promo on Channel 7 this morning for a story on Today Tonight. The basic idea of the promo is that you can save big dollars by buying things overseas online. Big surprise, they interviewed someone from eBay. I do wonder if these things are actually advertorials, and on the whole I loathe these pseudo ‘Current Affairs’ programs. If you want real Current Affairs, flip over to the ABC.

Wow, way to support local business Channel 7. Don’t you understand that as a powerful media corporation, you have a moral responsibility to the Australian economy? This weekend, there will be a large line up of moronic Today Tonight viewers walking in to Australian retailers, asking questions about products, trying on clothes & shoes, basically wasting the staff’s time so they can go home and order it online at half the price.

2 successful weeks now of getting out of bed earlier and going to bed earlier and going for a walk each week morning before I start work. Ok, I took one morning off because I had bad hayfever!

Saturdays see me out of bed at 5:30am, yes, before the sun even comes up. I make my porridge, put it in an insulated thermos flask, grab a couple of stainless steel water bottles, some snacks and off I go to play security guard for the triathlon training squad. And today, I made it through the entire day without a sleep. I’m impressed !!

I’m in the middle of launching a new fun website called I Can’t Believe It’s Not A Recipe, which is a tongue in cheek look at how friggin’ lazy and pathetic some cookbooks and cooking shows can get these days. I mean, a piece of pre-made pastry, a tin of Caramel Top & Fill (aka, condensed milk boiled in the can) and some whipped cream isn’t exactly an earth shattering recipe to be handed down through generations – it’s tight-wad cooking for people with no imagination or no time or no cooking skills, pure & simple.

Day 4, and we’ve gone walking EVERY morning before work. I’m so glad I’m getting up early each morning and going for a walk before work, I feel so much better for it now.

Today I even took the dogs with me, and trust me, it was a fun experience when they’ve never learnt to heal on a lead! (thanks James). I have now gone and bought short dog leads from Pet Barn today and getting the dogs to heal should be a little easier tomorrow. Stay tuned.

After getting out of bed at 5:30am on Saturday morning to babysit about $50,000 worth of triathlon bikes for some of my husbands friends on a training run, I was amazed at just how many people are out and about that early in the morning. There’s this whole other world that happens before I usually even get out of bed.

Now, I’m a night owl. I probably stop working at about 10:30-11:00pm most nights in my never ending quest to sell more water bottles and baby bottles on the internet than anyone else – but this quest also means I have to sleep in, and I don’t start my work day until late.

Starting this morning, I’m on a quest. I am going to start going to bed earlier and waking up earlier, at least 6:30am or earlier. I will have my breakfast, put on my comfy new Lorna Jane workout clothes, my Polar heart rate monitor and go for a walk to start the blood pumping for the day.

Stay tuned!

I’m seriously considering expanding our range of MiEssence products at Shop Naturally to include the bulk of the organic skin care and possibly the make-up too. Do people really buy make-up online? Considering I never wear make-up, this is not an area I have a huge amount of experience in. Guess it’s about time to crack out the Survey Monkey to ask the opinions of the people on our mailing list. If you’re an online junkie like me and you do buy make-up or skin care online, I would love to hear your thoughts.

On another totally unrelated note, anyone want to get grubby this afternoon? I’m off to help run the CCTRI offroad duathlon.
