Steinway & Sons

I would like to say a big thank you to the folks at Theme & Variations for allowing me to spend some time in their store yesterday playing a variety of Steinway & Sons grand pianos.

What did I learn?
That I have expensive taste, to the tune of close to $200,000.

I played the most magnificent concert Steinway Grand D series that gets rented out so it’s voiced nice and bright for a concert hall. Oh my god, what a magnificent piano. I think I’m almost too scared to touch another one for a few days. When I do, I’m going to have to apologise to my ears ;)

I am going to own a Steinway grand piano one day. Perhaps not the D series, but I will be buying a smaller one. Mark my words.

(and thank you to my lovely husband who bought me a surprise Steinway mug so I can relive the fun I had!)

Bogans like Andre Rieu

I had to chuckle when we read the article on Things Bogans Like about Andre Rieu.

From the article “Being aware of the bogan’s reluctance to dwell too long on foreign music pieces it is not already familiar with, André intersperses his Australian shows with singalong favourites such as Burke’s Backyard, Bananas in Pyjamas, and Neighbours.”

Please, tell me it isn’t true!!!

Free Day on Catch of the Day

I haven’t been a ‘catch-a-holic’ for very long, but tomorrow they’re having a FREE DAY where you just pay postage on some items. It’s strictly a members only thing, so if you want to take a sneaky peek, I suggest you sign up at www.catchoftheday.com.au so you can take a look. It will be very interesting to see how much stuff they have on there.

Water Bottle, Water Bottles, they’re everywhere.

I would like to give a bit shout out to my dear friend Sergio who gave me the motivation I needed to tighten up the SEO in my little family of websites. I couldn’t have done it without your help. I’m now on the front page of Google for the phrases water bottles and water bottle.

All our web design clients will be benefiting from the knowledge and experience I gained throughout this whole process. Think I might have to put my hourly rate up ;)

We’re certainly not on the podium yet, but I’m sure a Canadian Olympic Official will be approaching me soon with a bunch of flowers and a big yellow shiny sparkly object to hang around my neck. When that happens – massive sale on with FREE water bottles and watch the job ads on the Central Coast because we’ll be hiring more staff and shifting in to a larger warehouse soon. We’re surrounded by boxes!!

Shop Naturally is definitely, without a doubt, THE largest water bottle online retailer in the country now. I’m super excited. Watch this space.

Mmmmmm … Zac

I know he’s 22. I know I’m 40 (and married), but Zac Efron is definately on my list after seeing this photo. Like a fine wine (and Leonardo & Brad Pitt), he’s just going to get finer with age.

Kitchenware Junkies Heaven

If you’re addicted to Kitchenware like I am, Kitchenware Direct is a must visit website. They have THE best prices on a whole heap of stuff, including Scanpan. I always buy my Scanpan online, and when we get our new house, I’m going to get a KitchenAid mixer from them too. It’s on my ‘wish list’!

If you’re after an aluminium water bottle instead of the gazillion stainless steel water bottles we sell, the best brand is SIGG. I personally think they’re a little pricey for what they are, but they’re cute, so who cares! Buy your SIGG from Kitchenware Direct. They have the best prices on SIGG we’ve been able to buy online.

If you’re worried about the whole BPA in the linings thing, SIGG used to have BPA in their lining, but not anymore. As long as you’re buying a new one now from someone reputable, it will be fine. If you have an old SIGG bottle, you might want to do a bit of research. Apparently if the lining looks like a copper colour, its’ the old one, a pale cream colour, the new ones, but check with SIGG directly just to make sure.

Is this what Valentines Day is really all about?

Breaking up isn’t hard to do at all!

This is too funny. There’s an agency in Germany who will break up with your boyfriend or girlfriend for you. Services include the ‘let’s be friends’, the ‘leave me alone’, the ‘break up letter’ and the ‘personal break-up’ where he rocks up unannounced at your doorstep.

I wonder if he has personal injury insurance…………..

Nigel Kennedy vs Andre Rieu

One is arguably the world’s greatest violin player. The other one sells millions of crappy CD’s and puts on a circus like show.

I’m sure Andre is a nice guy, but he’s giving classical music a bad name and makes my toes curl.  This video clip looks like a piss-take ‘Fabio’ commercial from a comedy show. Eeewwww…….

From everything I’ve heard, Nigel Kennedy is an eccentric ratbag, and I have had the honour of witnessing his genius and touching his hand once already in this life and I’m going to see him again at the Opera House in a couple of weeks. I can’t wait!!

Grey hair

On turning 40 “when you pluck out a grey hair, they just grow back, and usually they just multiply and take over. Best to leave them alone and learn how to co-exist. The grey hair will always win in the end!”

A lesson that can be applied to many things in life.
